About The Project
ReplayMyPlay is an energy-harvesting play structure that converts the mechanical energy from the motion of children's play into electric power. The goal of ReplayMyPlay is to engage the community in a collaborative effort to teach young children about how they can make an impact and promote sustainability.
ReplayMyPlay includes a series of workshops that inform the community of project developments and teach children about fundamental concepts of energy conservation and renewal. The project's host is the Frick Environmental Charter School. The targeted audience is young children (both in the school and throughout the community) who can use the structure either alone, or with the aid of a caregiver.
ReplayMyPlay will be in a shared public space in Pittsburgh; though it's intended use is for the school. The first implementation will be completed by fall of 2010.The structure may require supervision while in use so it may not be open at all times. All educational outreach programs in the area will be invited to come and use the structure and attend the workshops.
